There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that being a good, honest, and hard working police officer is one of the most difficult, and thankless jobs in the entire world. Not only is being a police officer typically an underpaid position, it is by and large a thankless position. Often, just like anyone else, Law Enforcement officers are frustrated by daily life, and especially their own personal professional lives, and sometimes, this leads officers into crime. When this happens, when officers of the law are more criminal than the criminals; it is a disgrace to everyone; and especially to the hard working, dedicated, sincere, and balanced officers of the law who do have great moral values, and no propensity towards un needed violence and subjugation, intimidation, and extortion.
I live in Texas, in the United States of America. I've never been to South Africa; I've never been South of Monterrey Mexico. I'm a poor spokesperson for Police in South Africa; but when I heard about the incident this month, the first month in the year of our Lord, 2011; I simply had to write something about it. I try to be fair. I try to be balanced. I never, ever watch Fox, and so I know that there is a possibility that I'm, if not close to my goals, that they are still achievable

Winnie Mandela vs. South African Traffic Police.
I should clarify here that when I call Winnie Mandela the "Queen of South Africa," that that is purely sarcasm on my part.
Every living soul with a functional brain and a head that is not stuck into the sand, ostrich style, well knows that the nation of South Africa has been a hotbed of racial tension for probably it's entire existence. That can not be disputed; and every single time that a "white" police officer pulls over a black in South Africa, you know good and well what will be going on in the minds of those persons.
"Am I about to get killed by the police?"
It's so tough there that it almost makes one feel as though it's not comparable for me to compare the situation there to the one here, where "white" undercover cops, in Kaufman, Texas; drive beat up old cars down East First North looking to bust a dirt poor black man or boy for the crime of trying to make money selling crack cocaine. Never mind the fact that such young men in my hometown have virtually ZERO opportunity to do much of anything else, and that such police officers as those do NOTHING towards improving the lots of the lives of these men. "Serve and protect" my ass! The officers in my town that do that sort of gig serve only the Prison Industrial Complex, and Dick Cheney's poisonous social contributions to a crumbling American Society.
Sorry, I get lost sometimes. I'm not in Kaufman, Texas; I'm in South Africa.
So anyways, Winnie Mandela isn't "just" some poor black South African, you know; she used to have a husband named Nelson, and if you do not know about Nelson Mandela, you're probably a fine redneck sort of person, and you're confused by these big names; but I do sometimes write about shotguns, and I can refer you with confidence towards those fine articles.
Forgive the ramble here, you get no apologies, but I have to side with Winnie Mandela concerning being chased by an unmarked police car. I tell you the truth, if someone is chasing me in an unmarked car; then there's no way for me to know that it is a Law Enforcement officer, and it's easy to think that someone that isn't a police officer is out to get you, shoot at that person in defence, and now you're a super felon. I also, in this specific instance, totally AGREE WITH the actions of that Law Enforcement Officer, as the vehicle carrying Winnie Mandela was travelling WAY TOO DAMN FAST for the safety of the other motorist and passengers on that, or any highway not in Germany.

What Happened Next? It Got Really Ugly.

She'd repeatedly yelled at him and his colleagues, as reported by Warrant Officer Jannie Odendaal on Tuesday.
"I didn't recognise her since she had white powder all over her face and looked much older than when I'd last seen her."
Odendaal, a member of the Gauteng police flying squad, said the occupants of the vehicle refused to identify themselves, and this is illegal in America; you CAN NOT NOT identify yourself. Me? I take a lot of pride in who and what I am, I'll proudly tell any officer who I am, what kind of person or attitude prevents someone from telling a Law Enforcement officer who they are? Especially, one must wonder why they wouldn't tell the police officer who they were considering the facts that they'd been clearly breaking the law, and causing a great deal of danger to everyone on the highway. It's not like a police officer can just shoot the wife of Nelson Mandela, even had they wanted to. Clearly, there must have been some shame involved here, I tell you, if I'm not owning up to being the only single Wesman Todd Shaw in this world, then I damn sure must be severely ashamed of what I've just been busted for doing. That's never happened to me before, and Lord willing, it never will.
"I've been working my arse off in the police for 19 years and now I have to apologise to her for doing my job," said Odendaal.
Again, I have to say here, I often side with blacks, but not this time, I side with the police, the man was doing his job, and political circumstances are what the source of his problems here are, it's not that he wasn't protecting and serving, he damn sure was serving and protecting the citizens of South Africa as the car carrying Winnie Mandela was travelling over 90 miles per hour!
"I don't know if I still belong in the police if this is the way they treat me.

I can not verify it at this time, but I will find out what all has happened, I'm told that this officer has BEEN SUSPENDED FROM HIS JOB BECAUSE HE WAS DOING HIS JOB. If so, then this is an abomination in the nation of South Africa. We need good law enforcement officers in the United States of America, and especially in my hometown, Kaufman, Texas. Let's see to it that this police officer get's his job back, or otherwise, gets another police job where he can serve and protect with the pride and honour that is due him.

Sure, selling crack won't get them anywhere, but they can't sit around and do nothing at all either. There is no program in the city(old money, rich "whites") provided to help them, me, or anyone else do anything. A job at McDonalds or Taco Bell is about the only place to start, and there's lots of competition for those jobs too.
I think that it is wise to keep calm heads and do some clear thinking about this issue, which is more complex than you would have us believe.

The National Prosecuting Authority is looking into the case with a view to possible criminal prosecutions and until they have completed their investigations we do not have the full story.
It does seem that Odendaal made some racial comments to Winnie Mandela's driver, Jacob Monare, who wanted to explain why he had been driving so fast, a fact he was not trying to deny.
So before jumping on any bandwagons about Ms Mandela let's await the outcome of the enquiry. I think it will reveal more than has come out so far.

The kids were severely tortured. They are suffering from post traumatic stress and one went blind. When it all got out, the whole thing went quiet.

The ANC, Communist Party and PAC never wanted 'freedom' and 'equality'... they only wanted to get into power so they can enrich themselves and their friends. There is a huge scandal involving Aurora mine where Khulubuse Zuma (president's son/cousin) and Zodwa Mandela (Mandela's grandson) enriched themselves, living ultra-luxurious lives while the mine's power had been cut due to non-payment of bills and workers hadn't been paid in probably about a year now, some have committed suicide. Malema is called a child-soldier because he joined the ANC at age 13 and went to funerals in the city armed with a gun. Interestingly enough, he now has a white bodyguard. LOL.
The proposals refer to the fact that the ANC want to change laws to allow farm workers to let their extended families (including cousins etc) stay on farmers' land for as long as they want, also allowing these people to farm on the farmer's land. In short, it aims to create a legal situation where farmers are basically disowned and have no rights to their own land. In turn, they have to ensure all these people have houses, running water, sewage and electricity.
And as Malema clearly illustrates, working your arse off for everything you've got, doesn't count. He also neglects to mention that the blacks in SA today, and even 200 years ago came from much further North, such as the Congo. Zulus for instance, are descendants of a Nguni from the Congo named 'Zulu'. These are all just excuses to kill the goose that lays the golden eggs that feed the country. But what's new. That's Africa.

Hey thanks, N.E. Wright! As ridiculous as was her abusing a police officer for pulling her over going a hundred mph in her limo. . . I wish I'd never even heard of "necklacing." Necklacing was some of the most horrific murder that I wish I'd never have heard of.

It's rather common behavior all over, I think - it's certainly not unique to South Africa for someone famous or with political connections to behave as though they are "special."
