Gun Control, an Issue of Misplaced Faith in Government.

80

By Wesman Todd Shaw

An Issue Of Faith and Trust.

Gun control issues frustrate me more, perhaps, than any other issue in modern times. The political climate in various countries concerning gun control can get really brutal really quick. What I'm finding, and what I've seen is that this entire issue comes down to faith. NO, I DO NOT mean faith in the religious sense of the word, rather, I mean faith in government. One must have a HUGE amount of fear in their hearts in order to trust a government more than they trust themselves and their fellow man. Personally, I have ZERO faith in government, and slightly more than none in regards to the average citizen of any country. What this all comes down to is this. I'm not scared of YOU. I've had guns pulled on me by crack dealing thugs, and by police officers. I've been drawn down on more than once, more than twice even. I can recall three different times that some individual or another has pulled a gun on me; and I'm still here. I'm still not scared of YOU, and I'm still not scared of GUNS.

Another monumental thinking error that I observe frequently is the idea that 1. gun laws had something to do with the recent shooting in Arizona, and that 2. Sarah Palin. . . .wolf killing idiot that she is, had something to do with it. What is completely being excused here is the role that modern mass media plays in forever glamorizing violence whilst at the same time creating political divides the size of the Grand Canyon, but deeper than the Royal Gorge.

It astounds me when people can't see, in plain old Latin, the "order out of chaos" mantra on the back of United States fiat currency via the globalist non American institution, the Federal Reserve.

Why people can't seem to accept that these divides, and there are many, many such divides along political, ideological, and religious lines; are all NOT created by the media, these philosophical and ideological divides are human, but rather, inflamed and blown out of proportion by the media; is a grand testament to the subversive powers of the same.

Literally, mass media is a criminal institution in the United States of America. Screaming "fire" in a crowded theatre all day, every day, is what they do; but yet, it is not, rather, they whisper "fire" over, and over, and over again, waiting, biding their time; and then their globalist associates creep up with yet another criminal, unconstitutional, violation of the Bill of Rights, and the United States Constitution, like the "patriot act."

Quotes

"In a state of tranquillity, wealth, and luxury, our descendants would forget the arts of war* and the noble activity and zeal which made their ancestors invincible. Every art of corruption would be employed to loosen the bond of union which renders our resistance formidable. When the spirit of liberty, which now animates our hearts and gives success to our arms, is extinct, our numbers will accelerate our ruin and render us easier victims to tyranny. If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquillity of servitude than the animating contest of freedom—go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen!"

~Benjamin Franklin~

"Those who would give up Essential Liberty
to purchase a little Temporary Safety,
deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."

~Benjamin Franklin~

H.L. Mencken

Practical Politics, and the Legendary Hobgoblins

The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.
H. L. Mencken

The most dangerous man to any government is the man who is able to think things out for himself, without regard to the prevailing superstitions and taboos.

H.L. Mencken

Gun Laws Result in Media Induced Massacres.

Bulls On Parade

Fear is For The Weak.

Now, I'm human just like the rest of us, and my humanity and intelligence allow me to peruse the human condition, and I spend most days doing that; and all of my conclusions lead me to know that  Chairman Mao Tse-tung was right when he'd said that power is located at the barrel's end of the gun, and I'm also aware that another most accurate summary of the human condition was found when whoever it was said that "absolute power corrupts absolutely," take those quotes, and the knowledge that they were uttered in confidence and reality combined with wisdom, and what do you have?

I'll break this down for you, taking guns out of the hands of the people gives absolute power to absolutely corruptible persons in power, and they well know that power is located at the barrel's end of a gun.

Criminals will still have them, but take them away from the rest of us; and what do you have? You've then got subjects, beggars, cowards, and nothing to protect your rights with; you've got new feudal, and unarmed servants, potential slavery; and oppressors controlling a force that you no longer have the ability to organize and deal with.

We're At The Frayed Ends Here.

Excellent write up Todd. but why are acts of violence with guns so much lower in other countries than the USA? And why do people NEED so many guns? Like...an assault rifle to hunt deer???

ANSWER ME, TEXAN!!!

Well. . . . . how bout I just tell you how happy I am that you commented me bloggy; and that we should elope to Ireland together, and stir up some shit?

Why the violence in the USA? We're under intense attack by the media, we're the wild horse that's not completely broken yet, that's why.

Uhh.. Mexico has a lot more gun violence, and much stricter gun laws. And, the richest man in the world is in Mexico, and Mexico has a higher per-capita rate of billionaires. Coincidnece? This hub warns of the dangers of sacrificing liberty, and the forewarned results that would make America very similar to Mexico. As for Canada, they have a lower gun violence rate than the US, but they also have a much higher gun onwership rate and a very low per-capita rate of billionares. Really, who needs billionaires? Royalty cannot exist in a democracy.

And just what will I do about it? Vote the bums out, of course.

Wesman Todd Shaw profile image

Wesman Todd Shaw Hub Author 16 months ago

I appreciate the comment, Jed Fisher; and I especially appreciate you're zeal for voting the "bums" out, but I thought you were too kind with your descriptive adjective.

As for Mexico's "richest man in the world," that Sir, is merely a Media meme; the Queen of England is worth over a hundred trillion dollars, Sir, but only 40 billion of that, give or take, is directly traceable to her. The Queen's wealth, however, is but a fraction of the Grand Visier's Wealth, as he controls the central banking system in every nation in the entire world, save five rogue rebellious little lands, and I only wonder which of those we'll invade next for him.

You see, when you own the associated press, and the BBC; and your cousins and friends own ever last media outlet in the USA, you create the false "reality" in which someone like Bill Gates, or some random Mexican telecom man. . . .is the wealthiest person in the world.

Peace out.

Ya, you're argument stands. It is not a pretty argument or a nice one but it is the truth.

On the other hand though, (I am in Toronto, Canada) there are a lot of American guns on the streets here. Easily accessible too if you have the money and/or the interest in purchasing one on the black market. The outcome is ugly: sixteen year old kids shooting each other over crack-sales ... How can you keep the guns in the hands of responsible people?

Tough subject, good blog! Cheers!

Wesman Todd Shaw, teller of the truth! Another good one and I totally agree. A few years back there was a big push for folks to come to the police station and turn in their guns, hell they even offered cash. Why anyone would do that is way beyond me (but they did)! If the swat teams (and other so called law enforcement) are gonna' have the kind of weapons they have I think citizens have every right to own the same shit. I liked those quotes, here's one Justin found a while back. "Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power." Kennedy produced a bill to try. .. .the bankers answer is written in history, but not the textbooks that they feed the children full of bullshit with; no, it ain't seen there at all.

Screw these guns. All the guns in the world will just create and perpetuate more killing. But it will be the wrong killing.

It doesn't take guns to make the stand. It takes damn focus and Americans are blind. Americans are still too comfortable. Americans are still driving Harleys, pick-up trucks with gun-racks, going to he-man football games and calling all the plays but Americans don't have the grit to stand up against money. The only cowboys that make sense are the ones roping cows.

Guns will not solve shit. It takes balls - not rhetoric.

MickeyDee, Rifle class was a class that American male students took to learn how to correctly use firearms. I think it was a 8th grade class. That was back in the day of 1950s 60s. The problem with people today is fear and lack of education. A gun is just a machine that can only be harmful in the wrong hands. Just like a car or any other machine.

Nice hub. One comment. Most felons in Durham, north carolina, where i greww up, have guns. They get them illegaly as felons are not permitted to own firearms. Gun laws would not stop the violence because people that do the crime already have the gun illegaly. It would just take guns out of the homes for people to protect themselves with. Think about it.

Wesman Todd Shaw profile image

Wesman Todd Shaw Hub Author 16 months ago

Oh of course!

Here's the thing: most people with felonies aren't violent people, and they have the need to protect themselves from violent persons and law enforcement too. I think any non violent felon, and every non violent felon should own guns.

I absolutely give not a damn about corrupt American laws.

Good Stuff! Have you ever read Andrew Jackson's Eighth Annual Message to the Senate and of the House of Representatives?

Here is a small segment of that speech:

To take from the people the right of bearing arms and put their weapons of defense in the hands of a standing army would be scarcely more dangerous to their liberties than to permit the Government to accumulate immense amounts of treasure beyond the supplies necessary to its legitimate wants. Such a treasure would doubtless be employed at some time, as it has been in other countries, when opportunity tempted ambition.

To collect it merely for distribution to the States would seem to be highly impolitic, if not as dangerous as the proposition to retain it in the Treasury.

That is a portion of my next hub which is probably a week or two away.

That way the collateral damage can be eliminated.

Excellent Hub and if I may address Acid Rahne's question about why we have more gun violence than other countries, it's because we have a large inner city minority population who are killing each other at alarming rates.

Nearly 75% of all gun murders in the US are inner city kids killing each other as gang members, a huge problem that our government refuses to acknowledge or address.

Other well armed countries like Sweden, Canada, and Switzerland have very low minority populations and very low crime rates.

It's sad but true. We don't have a gun problem. We have a minority desperation problem.

Well done Wesman!

Wesman Todd Shaw profile image

Wesman Todd Shaw Hub Author 16 months ago

Thanks WillStarr. I agree, but I have to say that there is a reason for this, on top of the increased levels of poverty among minorities; and that problem is that the media glamorizes narco trafficking towards Hispanics, and all out ghetto thug life towards blacks.

WillStarr profile image

WillStarr Level 8 Commenter 16 months ago

Absolutely.

Hollywood and the rap music industry, with help from liberals, glorifies gangsters, drugs, sex, fatherless homes, and violence in the inner city, so it's no wonder that young ghetto men who grew up without benefit of a father, are killing each other at alarming rates.

Government ignores the carnage and instead, blames law abiding gun owners!

The point I was making is that our higher crime rate, compared to other well armed countries, is directly due to minorities killing each other.

Wesman Todd Shaw profile image

Wesman Todd Shaw Hub Author 16 months ago

. . . . so, you see the REASON why this happens then. The media doesn't do anything BUT stir up trouble, and not just on this issue, on every single issue that you and I could name, and even some that we'd never even considered.

Basically, WillStarr, I've declared war on the media, and I don't really see "left vs right" like most people do, what I see is globalization, and so, the media goes on and on about "left vs right," or "liberal and conservative."

I'm not buying it, you know that that is to me?

DIVIDE AND CONQUER.
